GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -John 3:16


From the time Adam and Eve were evicted from the Garden of Eden, mankind has fallen short of the ideals God has placed before them. We call these shortcomings sin. Sin separates us from the perfect will of God. Isaiah 59:2 says, "But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear."


However, to correct the situation, Jesus Christ provides the perfect and only remedy. John 14:6 says, "Jesus saith unto Him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."


Christ died for the sins of all mankind, thus making Him the ultimate sacrifice. We are promised in John 3:16 "that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."


So, how does one receive Christ? We all reach a point in our lives where we realize we are lost. We know we are without hope and we are devoid of God's love. When we are in this condition, we are told in Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." The lost soul must come before God, expressing faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and asking forgiveness of their sins.


In order for a person to be saved, they must:

  • Recognize they are lost.
  • Understand Jesus Christ died for them as the ultimate atonement for their sins.
  • Pray to God, acknowledging faith in Christ, and asking forgiveness of their sins.

Once you accept Christ as your personal Savior, it is only the beginning of a greater work He has planned for you. It is important to involve yourself in a church with other believers of Christ to further your relationship and increase your knowledge and understanding of God's word.
